President urges the people to speak up, says Americans deserve better from their elected officials



The President admonished political partisanship as he discussed Washington's need to put the American people first in this week's address. President Obama repeated last week's call to action on several policies aimed at creating jobs and strengthening the economy. As mentioned last week, that list consists of extending the payroll tax, investing in infrastructure, assisting entrepreneurs by cutting red tape, engaging international trade deals, and creating incentives for businesses to hire veterans coming home from overseas. The President said he plans to list more policies in the coming weeks and pledged his commitment to continue working to produce jobs for the American people.

However, refocusing his attention on partisan gridlock in Washington, President Obama gave his opinion on the state of American politics today. To put it bluntly, the President thinks the American people deserve better.
